Title: Converted DCC engine not running
Post by: billgiannelli on March 09, 2015, 03:58:28 PM
Hello all,
I had a Bachmann engine that I added a sound decoder to which was working fine. I'm using Bachmann Dynamis. I bought a new Broadway Limited DCC engine which also worked fine. I took the old engine off the tracks completely and placed the new engine on to run. Then took the new engine off completely and placed the old engine back on tracks. I seems to be dead. It doesn't run or make any sounds. It seems to me to be getting current.
First very general question is; how do I trouble shoot this? How do I determine the decoder isn't completely fried?
Second question is; what type of electrical circuit tested might be recommended? Would it be useful to have a fully featured ohmmeter?
thanks in advance for the help!
Bill

Remember - You have to select the address you assigned to each locomotive before you can control it.

Hi Hunt,
Thank you for the response!
I found the issue was a short between the two halves of the split frame in the engine.
Working fine now!
thanks!
