Title: decoder size
Post by: dlb on March 18, 2015, 06:46:55 PM
I have an older version 2 truck shay and a climax to convert to dcc with phoenix pb-11 sound.

Will a 3-4 amp decoder be strong enough?

What size would you suggest?

thanks,
David

Yes, a 3-amp decoder will be sufficient for the Shay and Climax. Also, since you're using DCC, you can use the cheaper P8 Phoenix board, as you don't need to worry about analog track power compatibility.

Thank you Kevin.
I will use Massoth xl decoders.
I am installing pb-11 as the owner will run both analog and dcc.
