If you're using a Tsunami Soundtraxx lists:  ALCO RS-3 DCC Equipped TSU-AT1000 ALCO 244 828043 810089
Although for the GP7/9 this will give an idea  :http://www.soundtraxx.com/documents/appnotes/bachmann_gp7.pdf

There was another thread on installing sound in a RS-3 a while back. I believe the recommendation was to use the Tsunami Soundtraxx decoder. The only thing I remember for sure was to use a 28mm speaker.

I normally use Google for searching. Came up with the below link.

The SoundTraxx site with decoder selector. I would be curious to see if the new Econmami decoder would work.

If you really get into SoundTraxx decoders, below is a very good Yahoo SoundTraxx Group I have belonged to for some time. Many experienced users of SoundTraxx decoders.
Yes you have to join but no big deal. Like the Bachmann forums, they do drift off topic at times.
