If it's built using PCB ties, with no spikes, the 70-Tonner's RP-25 profile wheels will handle code 55 track just fine. So code 70 rail, even with spikes, shouldn't be a problem at all.

I ripped out the top weight and PC board.
Installed a LokSound Micro decoder.
Used an oval speaker with home made styrene baffle.
Made my own weights because of the top weight being removed. Used the original rear and front LED lights.
The pictures might be in the HO forum somewhere. Been a few years.

Thanks for the info and the pictures.
Right now that is a little more than I could handle.
However I hope to be able to someday.
Thanks again
Tom

I agree. A lot of work but not really a big job except for pouring the weights using lego blocks for a form and on a digital scale. Had to replace the top weight. Needed room for the speaker. Sugar cube or iPhone speakers are smaller than the oval I used. Also, the Bachmann DCC decoder board had to go. The LokSound decoder is much smaller.
Someone else might have done it differently but I saw almost the same install in a MRR magazine a few years ago.
Not sure Bachmann will ever make the 44 ton or 70 ton in sound as they are not as popular as the run of the mill larger diesels.
