Title: DC VS DCC: HOW TO TELL
Post by: TRAINMOM13 on December 05, 2015, 06:34:51 PM
Purchase a new engine today.  it's Bachman DCC on Board DCC Equipped locomotive.  When placing it on the track, the lights come on but it won't move.  Any suggestions?

The package says plug and play compatibility with all dc and dcc systems.  How do I even tell what I have?

Thanks,
Frusterated Train Mom

Are you using DC transformer or a DCC system to run it?

If it is a brand new DCC locomotive it will be addressed as number 3. Are you running it in DC or DCC mode - in other words are you using a DCC system?

If you are using a DC power pack,  what is it?

If the engine is like most DCC equipped models, you need to turn the throttle up about half-way on your DC power pack before the loco will move.  The sound and lights will come on with the first few volts, but it won't move until about 6 volts are applied.
