First time train owner. Have the overland limited h/o 4:8:4 set. Instruction are vague about how the clean the locomotive. Have used a couple of times and is already making a loud squeak. Locomotive is only piece with metal wheel and the rest are plastic. Any good sites for detailed cleaning? What products should I use? Also what's best track cleaning method?
If this is new, there should have been some written material as well as a warranty. If not, I suggest going on line and finding the manufacturer and going from there. For an opinion, it sounds like something is binding up. Possibly a lube or misalignment issue. Go to the mfgr.

Dear Hill,
Micro-Mark has a variety of wheel cleaning options. Then use our EZ Lubes to eliminate the squeak: Light gear oil on the valve gear and axles, heavy lube on the gears and a little conductive lube on the wheels.
Have fun!
