Title: Slow progress on the new GER.
Post by: rogertra on December 03, 2016, 09:46:00 PM
As some of you may recall, I had an industrial accident April 01 and broke my hip, which has slowed progress on building the new GER.  However, I recently managed to paint most of backdrop as seen in the following photos.  Not 100% happy with the results so I will need to break out the 3" fan brush and add some clouds to the sky.

Good to see some progress again Roger. At least you're up and down stairs again......that's good. You'll be runnin' marathons soon. ;)

Here we go, back in the saddle!  :)

Ever see this trick for background painting?  I think this looks great.

Glad you're able to get back to a little fun.  Hope you're not too sore.

Always enjoy watching progress on your layout.  Right now I'm staring at your coaling tower and water tanks.  Hmmm...

Regards,

Jonathan

Good tip.

I use a similar technique using a roller and white paint along the bottom 12" and then a 4" brush with the sky blue from the top down into the white roller paint.  I then use a clean but damp brush to dry brush up from the bottom to the top.

Cheers

Hi Sid.

Progress on hip is good but I've been having back pain issues that make working difficult.  I've approached WCB and they are looking into my case again.

Cheers

Hip and back are slowly improving to the point where working on the railroad is becoming doable.
