Title: 70 Ton Switcher Keep Alive Connections
Post by: Yankeepop on December 31, 2018, 07:39:11 AM
I got an HO 70 Ton Switcher for Christmas. I'm running DCC and want to add a "Keep Alive".  I think I need to connect one lead to the plus side of my lights and other to the black wire from the track.  Can someone please confirm if my connection points are correct?  Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Here is my go to source of information for adding keep alives to any locomotive. It may not show your specific lovomotive and decoder, but it shows how to find the connection points on most any decoder.

Hope that helps you.

Thanks Tom for your reply.  I just found that post myself a few minutes ago.  Blue to DC+ and Black to DC-.

Yankeepop, I you get bored, here is some technical info you might like.

Yes, the onboard decoder should be easy but I tossed mine when I converted mine to LokSound. The decoder is well laid out from the parts photo.

Since I pulled the onboard decoder and put in a quality decoder I pulled all the caps off the motor for better running at slow speed. BEMF.
Speed and sound great.
