Title: Disassembly of EMD GP30
Post by: MacedonBill on December 21, 2019, 09:50:36 AM
Specifically, I need to remove the wheels to re-gauge them.  Not wanting to break anything, how is this done?

I have two older but new out of box Spectrum GP30 locos. The light on both will come on but locos will not move. All other GP30 locos operate fine. Motors are good. It could be a short in the frame but I just don't know. It the kind with the pickup on both sides of the trucks that rub the metal frame.

Any ideas?

Does the motor turn when you try to run them?

How old is this GP30. They have gone through several incarnations, from the early pancake motored ones, to the Spectrum era split fram, to the current version with the two piece metal chassis that bridges the motor. Let me know which one you have and I'll look at the ones I have to see how it is done.
