Title: HO Toby having problens
Post by: TheMemeTankEngine on November 29, 2020, 08:39:03 PM
Hello, it has been now about 2 years since my family last ran our Thomas HO scale collection for Christmas, as we were warming them up, toby couldn't make it around neither of our loops. My dad as im typing this, is currently trying to fix him. He has needed to get a new wire, as, toby was being literally held on by a thread. We got Toby about i think 2015-16, and haven't had any problems until tonight, if anybody has any idea on whats wrong, please let me know.

Thanks!

This should be the diagram for Toby. Not much to it. I found it in the Parts page. Not sure it is HO though.
Check the pickups, A little lube on the gears, I mean a little. Lub that is plastic compatible. No WD-40. Clean the wheels.
To test Toby without the shell, hold it over a nine volt battery contacts or a short piece of track and watch the gears.

Thanks! My dad managed to fix him, it turned out his motor was still trying to warm up.

I suspect dirty pickups. Motors do not have to warm up. I have had HO locos for many years.
At least Toby is running.
