Title: 2-8-4 #765 np smokebox removal

im looking for any help on how to remove the smoke box on my 2 8 4 np  765  loco  or any other way to get inside the boiler i need to add weight over the front 2 drivers to keep it from derailing  any help would be greatly appreciated

If that is the older type loco with the split chassis. loosen the screws and slip the smoke unit out. Usually each half of the chassis connected to the smoke unit as I recalled

Got your PM.  Afraid I can't recall how to remove the shell on that loco.  I had one, years ago, but I sold it.

I do recall it wasn't hard to get the boiler off, just can't remember where the screws were.

There's is tons of room in the smokebox area.  I put as much lead as I could squeeze in there, to properly balance it.  Center of gravity should be between the 2nd and 3rd drivers.  GREATLY increase the pulling power.
