Title: 1980's GP35 and SD45 Turn Radius + Atlas
Post by: sjlewis01 on July 03, 2024, 01:17:01 PM
Hello

I decided to get back into model trains and dug up some of my old equipment. i still have two of the bachman plus diesel locomotives. A gp35 and a SD45 black PRR models. my main question is what is the sharpest turn / curve radius that they can take. i have 18" and 22" atlas code 100 snap track but no turn outs. I was thinking using atlas snap track for the layout.

Both should be able to handle 18" radius curves, but will look better on larger curves. Especially the SD45.

The GP35 should give no trouble on 18r curves. The SD45 will derail shorter cars like ore cars that are coupled directly to it, so you'll want to make sure to couple a 40 or 50 foot car to the locomotive and any ore cars to that.
