Title: Bachmann DC/DCC Sound Value PRR GG-1 Engine
Post by: Mham0359 on July 25, 2024, 01:17:22 PM
I am running this Bachmann GG-1 #4935 Engine strictly on DC and wish to turn OFF the Sound coming from the engine. Is this possible without taking the engine apart to get to the internal workings of the engine? I am using an old DC ONLY Railpower 1370 Controller/Transformer.

Sure...if You can disconnect one speaker wire...or have anyone (or a local club) with a programming track set F8 to ON

So I'm guessing that I'll have to partially disassemble the GG-1 engine to get to that speaker wire and disconnect it to mute sounds?

Being able to disassemble stuff is an integral part of model railroading.

I've disassembled many a train but this might be a 1st of a GG-1 if necessary. Just thought I'd put it out there and ask beforehand. Thanks for both suggestions.

There's basically two ways a shell can be removed from a chassis:

1.  Removing screws.
2.  gently spreading the bottom edges to clear internal tabs holding them together by compression.

It's almost certainly one of those.
