Title: Fairly new Sante Fe Flyer curves not working
Post by: bryce on September 02, 2024, 02:36:10 PM
Hey,
So my son's fairly new HO Santa Fe Flyer kit was working just fine at first. We have added some of the gray EZ tracks to his black kit. Now the gray ones are working just fine, but the black tracks from the original kit are not working. Does anyone know what's up with that?
Thanks

Are the Nickle silver tracks in the farthest position from the feeder wire? If so that indicates that your older steel sections are functioning as intended. Try cleaning the rails, as steel gets dirty fairly quickly. If not, rearrange the track to put the nickle silver sections as far away from the feeders as possible and see if they still work.

Grey roadbed = newer track with nickel silver rail, good conductivity, lower cleaning requirements.

Black roadbed = older track, steel rail with lesser conductivity, higher cleaning requirements.

I would say that you might consider replacing most of the black roadbed track with gray roadbed track, and maybe save the black road bed track for the very end of dead end spurs where the engine won't run very much if at all.
