Hi,,,probably a very dumb question here ..but this last Christmas I purchased a Blackhawk HO scale set for under the tree. The grandkids loved it but they also liked derailments so much that they broke off both of the ez mate couplers on the engine. I can't figure out which ones I should order to repair. Thanks for any help🙂
Bachmann sells replacement EZ-Mate couplers. Check out the 2025 catalog (page 140) under the catalog heading at the top. The couplers are available in a variety of styles, so you will need to look at your couplers to see what kind you have. If you purchased a Bachmann set, chances are good that the Medium Center Shank style is what you need. If all else fails, give Bachmann Support a call and I'm sure they can point you in the right direction. Hope this helps.
Thanks Fred...I saw the couplers and my confusion was what length to order . Unfortunately the broken pieces were already discarded. I will give the medium a shot.
Toy trains take a whipping. I have a few cars that were rescued from the toy train world, rehabilitated, and put into service on an actual scale model railroad. One of my friends said they are like dogs that have been let out of the pound.
It probably wouldn't hurt to have a few extra couplers socked away for the future and quite possibly some wheel sets for the cars too since they can get knocked out of the truck.
This is a Bradford Exchange set. The locomotive is an F7. It should use the Medium length center shank couplers. I've found EZ Mate couplers to be fragile and prone to breakage like yours, so Ireplace mine with Kadee #148 couplers as they fail. The Kadees are the metal couplers the EZ mates are patterned after, so they are a compatible upgrade. You stated you have discarded the original couplers. Did you also discard the snap in cover that holds them in place? If so, you can get them from the Bachmann parts store for like 67 cents each. Note that this locomotive chassis is also used under the F9 and FT as well so parts listed for any of these models should fit.
