Hi Grandpagator,

Bachmann's never made an F3 locomotive. Do you have an item number? What scale is it?

Sounds like a used purchase with a steam decoder installed in it mistakenly.

Or loaded a steam profile to a Digitrax sound decoder. When my shop was open, I did that with an F7 just to mess with the kids at shows and demos.

Years ago, when the grandchildren were preschool , the grandson had some kind of push toy train that had a friction device that would wind up a spring motor when you pushed it enough, and then when you'd let it go it would run for a few feet.  It looked like some kind of early Burlington 1930 Zephyr diesel, but it had one of the most beautiful five chime steam whistles I'd ever heard.

I played with that thing more than the kid did.  😂😂. Just to hear that whistle. 😀😀
