I have a Williams Brass Crown Edition NO. 5010 PRR K4S 4-6-2 streamline pacific steam locomotive. The locomotive has a electronic reverse unit in it. The locomotive will run forward for about 15 minutes and then stop. When the transformer reverse button is pressed the engine will then operate in reverse. When the reverse button is pressed again it goes into neutral. When the reverse button is pushed again it should go forward but it will not move. I have tried the neutral, forward, neutral, reverse, neutral sequence
several times, but the locomotive will only move in reverse.
If I let the locomotive sit for about 15 minutes and it cools down it will once again work properly for about 15 minutes and then start working as explained above.
Can you repair this locomotive or suggest where I can send it to have it repaired.
Is there a new reverse unit available to replace the old one.
Sincerely
Keith Takarsh

Hello Keith ... 671 here.
Two things come to my mind which should help you with the challenge you are facing.
1. Replace the electronic board that controls the engine's drive motor direction. Trainland has an upgraded Williams control board in stock for $69.99. You will find it listed under the Williams heading in the parts section. Replace the board and your challenge should be repaired.
2. If I were facing this challenge, I would wire the motor control board to use it's second unused control circuit, to run the motor.
Let me explain: The control board should have two motor circuits, complete with two relays. Your steamer has ONE electric motor. The control board can run a single motored loco ie. streamer or a dual motored loco ie. diesel loco with two motors in it.
You may be able to remove the plug wires going to one side of the board over to the adjacent side. This may cause the loco to start in reverse ... No worry ...cut the two wires going to the electric motor and reverse their connection. This will allow the first starting stage of the motor control board to start the loco in forward.
I hope this is clear. []===(0000) []=x==(0000) Plug[], wires===, Motor(0000)
Hope this helps ... 671 Let us know how you repaired your loco
