Title: Bachmann Nickel Silver track vs. Steel Alloy track
Post by: TRossi on September 24, 2025, 12:54:03 PM
Are there any advantages to the Nickel Silver over the Steel Alloy track ( with the black roadbed)?

Steel will rust. Nickel silver won't.

Aside from rust, which isn't a major issue in a controlled enviroment, steel track requires more cleaning than NS track. Wheels seem to embed dirt and dust into steel rail surfaces faster than NS rail.

It's too bad but it's so hard to keep steel rail track clean enough for good operation.  Rusty rail sides will add some realism to the track;  that is, if it's evenly rusted and not spotty like I suspect it probably is.
