Title: Locomotive stopping on track
Post by: TRossi on November 06, 2025, 11:14:59 AM
When running my Walthers DCC EMD F7 A-B consist (both powered) on Bachmann NS EZ track with the Bachmann DC #44217 controller, at low speed, the pair always stops at a certain point in the 22" curve. At higher speeds it proceeds through with no issues. If I run the A unit only, this doesn't occur either.  Both locos are fairly heavy and produce basic engine and braking sound effects. My other locomotives don't do this so it's not a track problem. Could this be an issue with the DCC locomotive pairing vs. the DC controller? Thank you for any and all replies.

If it is happening at the same point, and the unit in question passes it at higher speeds, I would suspect either a dirty spot on the track, or a track joint misalignment, the one unit is more sensitive too than the other one. I would clean the spot in question, and check the joint alignment as first steps.

I agree about a dirty spot on the track, but also one of the trucks might not be picking up.  That happens some with my engines if one tender truck isn't picking up for some reason or another.  It gets on an insulated switch frog, the pick up driver on the same rail hits someplace where gnat deposited on the track, and it stalls at slow speed. But apparently if you run fast enoigh, there's sufficient momentum to push it over that spot and it keeps going.
