Title: Help with Couplers, please
Post by: brett435 on December 10, 2025, 09:59:34 AM
Hello!  Can someone please help me identify the couplers I need to replace. I have attached a photo of the engine and car couplers. They are from an old Acela HHP-8 set.  I measured them as close as I could.  Bachmann doesn't put the measurements on the parts store site, and I am not sure about what identifies a center knuckle versus other types.  THANK YOU!

The upper coupler (16/64") in your pic is a Short Underset Shank Coupler, the lower one (25/64") is a Long Center Shank Coupler.

The short couplers are normally referred to as having a 1/4" shank, rather than 16/64".

A medium, or standard, shank coupler has a length of 19/64".

I have the Kadee catalog which can be really helpful.  You can download a digital version here:

Kadee Digital Catalog (https://www.kadee.com/digital-catalog)

I have found PDF Page 7 onwards particularly helpful.
