Title: Decoder-equipped wye turnout - A short circuit ?

Hello,
I'm a french guy and I purchased 2 used decoder-equipped turnouts. The wye is different from the other turnouts, there is a metallic part in the frog. Do you know why? Do we have to prevent a short circuit?
