Title: Durango & Silverson, DCC ready?
Post by: seanbaker on May 08, 2026, 06:47:19 PM
Hello,

I'm looking at buying the Durango & Silverton set (00710).  The website says "DCC-ready 2-8-0 locomotive and tender with operating headlight", but I have not seen anything on the box stating this, either in hobby shops or online images.  I think this set has been out for a while.  Have the locos in the set always been DCC-ready?  Or did they start that as of a given date?  Is there a way to tell by looking at the package (or pics online) to confirm it's DCC-ready?  Not a deal-breaker (I like the set), just would be nice to have the 8-pin connector there already.  (I know there more work to do if I want sound).

Thanks,

Sean.

Hi Sean,

The Durango & Silverton set loco has had an 8-pin connector since it was first introduced. For the next production run, we will be upgrading it to a 21-pin connector, but the sets on the market currently all have the 8-pin connector.
