Title: On30 rolling stock on an HO layout
Post by: mcfly5040 on January 16, 2008, 06:56:02 PM
Would On30 rolling stock and motive power look ridiculously out of place operating on an HO layout?

With buildings, figures, and autos close to the track, yes.  They'd be 1/2 the size of the locomotives and rolling stock.  for selective compression, they'd probably work fine.

Gene - sorry to be a nitpicker but O sale is approximately eight times the size of HO. Double the length times double the width times double the height gives you a volume eight times bigger. (using one eighth inch to a foot for HO rather than 3.5 mm)

Sorry, I can't help myself - after  teaching math for 37 years I am brainwashed.

The simple answer is yes, the On30 equipment would look out of place with HO accessories unless you are in the "Twilight Zone" where anything is possible.

I'm sure Gene meant "1/2 the scale".

That is what I meant.  "O" and "half O"
