If anyone has specific experience with that loco they can let you know.  But with any loco there can be mechanical problems with the gears and drive train, or electrical problems starting from the wheels, through various contacts and ending with the motor's brushes.

Mechanical problems can include manufacturing defects, worn out parts, parts out of alignment, and old lubrication.

Electrical can be dirty contact areas (like dirty wheels), or contacts misaligned (not touching other parts correctly), or worn out contacts or motor.

Someone here might be able to help a bit more if you can be more specific about what is happening.  Otherwise if you are referring to a Bachmann product, you can contact Bachmann Service about repairs.
