Hi everyone
My sole purpose of joining this board (not only to hopefully learn more things about RRing) was to gain more information on a Bachmann product.
I am interested in a Spectrum Steam Locomotive, Norfolk and Western J #611. I am looking to see if 1)is there one that comes sound equipped and 2) does any of those locomotives have flywheels attached to the motors.
I have looked at the product descriptions and can not seem to find an answer.
I am looking at HO scale (if not previously mentioned) one that is DCC equipped. Here is the link for what I believe is it:

Thank you.
This particular locomotive has a non-sound decoder installed. It's fairly easy to install a sound decoder in its place. Unfortunately Bachmann does not sell its sound decoders individually now.
I do not know of any steam locomotive models with flywheels so I assume the N&W J doesn't have one.

There is a J which has sound installed available as well
http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/products/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=1888
I notice that the Spectrum 2-8-0 which has DCC installed and 2-10-0 which is DCC ready are indicated as flywheel equipped. The other Spectrum steam engines are not noted as having a flywheel.
The Bach Man would be the best source of information on your request for information.
Following up on this question, I want to add sound to my 2-10-2 Spectrum loco. If Bachmann no longer supply a conversion decoder (is this true??), can anyone recommend a decoder with sound that will readily replace the existing decoder??...........thanks for the help........browncopper

How do I contact "The Bach Mann" for my questions?
Dear Dale,
You just did...
The Class J is available with sound, but the link you posted is the non sound unit. The sound units are Item Numbers 83902, 03, and 04, and the MSRP is $350.
As always, it pays to shop around...
Have fun!

The J1 is not "Spectrum" now is it??
The J1 was the wartime non-shrouded J.

oops - Class J
There are several iterations of Bachmann N&W J class. The latest is a Spectrum.
