Title: Bachmann 2-10-2 and 2-8-4 with DCC sound
Post by: SteamGene on March 31, 2008, 04:14:45 PM
I fit my last remaining old MRC steam sound decoder into both my Bachmann 2-10-2 and my 2-8-4 Kanawha.  Both worked fine without having to clip any capacitors.  BTW, the Van Swerigen (sp) 2-8-4 is actually longer than the USRA light 2-10-2.

Gene;
How did the Santa Fe compare with the Berkshire with tractive effort?

Rich,
I have not tried the 2-10-2 up a grade yet.  It may be a bit.  The 2-8-4 is good for at least 15-16 40' weighted cars up a 2%.  But the first 2-10-2 was a strong disappointment on the club layout.  Both the IHC and the Proto do a much better job at the drawbar.

Maybe I should be grateful for Cal-Scale...  So far, so good.  Grades, especially  heavy ones, have long been a thorn in the side of railroads, so our stuff is no exception, I guess.  I have tried to keep grades as forgiving as posible if I can.

I'm thinking about  "last remaining" (singular) decoder (singular)  into "both" (plural) locos. ???

On April 1 I don't trust anyone LOL
