Same question regarding the Brill Trolleys.
Thanks

Dear Pete,
Any motor can be controlled by a decoder if it can be isolated from the track. I believe the streetcars and cable cars can be.
Have fun

How difficult is it to install a Digitrax dz123 decoder into the Brill Trolley?  Is the Brill Trolley difficult to take apart?
Thanks.

I believe there is one screw in the center of the underframe that needs
to be removed and then carefully spread the body apart around the steps and the underframe will come apart from the body. The newer versions of
the Brill are powered with a can motor that sits on top of the truck tower. The older versions used the pancake motor assembly. There should be enough room in the roof area above the motor for a DCC decoder.

Thanks to all for the replies.  I managed to take the trolley body off.  Installing the decoder in this looks pretty straight forward with a little careful soldering.  It has just the one interior light which I might replace with forward and reverse lights.
