I'm getting a bachmann spectrum undecorated dd40ax but I can't seem to find the model on the website, so is this the old model?

What box is it in? The older ones were packeged in a Spectrum box while the new ones will be in a Standard Line box.

Also there's seems to be a few different quility versions of the model, a basic all moleded datails one and the one I'm getting which has all seperatly applied handrails and looks substancially better.

On the "Products"'s page, go to the HO scale section, and type "DD40AX" in the search box. That should do it. Please note, it will show two of each roadnumber, only because one version is in N scale. While the other is in HO scale.
