Title: Locomotive Lubrication
Post by: hobbyokie on January 05, 2009, 08:10:01 PM
Are there diagrams for where and how to lubricate the Bachmann locomotives anywhere on the Bachmann website?

We recently purchased two DCC sets and I want to have the kids responsible for maintenance of the rolling stock including lubrication on a periodic basis. Want to make sure we do it right.

Thanks for answering.

In the instructions there should be a loco digram that shows you how to take the trucks bottoms off diesels to get to the gears to lube them, as for spectrum i have no idea, there well lubed though....

They must be lubricated with plastic compatible lubes. DO NOT  use vasoline, wd 40 or 3 in 1 oil. that will ruin the engines. lube sparenely, too much is not a good thing. Cars should be cleaned, not lubed. Clean trucks and wheels with alchohol.  If trains are run on the floor, they pick up all kinds of gunk. Put the trains on a table so they stay cleaner.

When he says clean the freight cars in alcohol DO NOT get alcohol on the paint of the cars.
