Title: DCC & sound conversion
Post by: cneste on January 10, 2009, 07:56:12 PM
I have a number of Bachmann Spectrum steam locomotives, all 'DCC-ready'. Is it feasible to purchase the components used in current production Bachmann DCC and Sound-equipped locos to upgrade the older models? My club is converting to DCC, and I have to take some action if I want to run my equipment.

I've started a detailed comparison of the exploded diagrams of the DCC-ready and DCC/sound-equipped Russian decapods. My thought was to buy those parts that differ directly from Bachmann to convert the older model to match the newer.Same thing with the consolidation, light mountain and K4.
Is this worth doing?

Carl,
Possibly...  if, and it's a big IF; you can obtain needed parts from Bachmann.
My understanding such items are available only for warranty. But you should ask the Bachmann Service Dept directly.
