Title: end to end single cross overs LH to RH
Post by: bts61240 on February 15, 2009, 03:32:17 PM
Little Help!
I am trying to run and inside loop and and outside loop with the single cross over turnout so I can switch tracks from either direction.
I want to be able to use two controller one for in and one for out.

The stock cross overs are powering both loops with one controller.

How do isolate the inner and outer tracks while using these cross overs?

Cross over Item # 44876 and 44875

The crossovers you are referring to are set up for DCC. Jim Banner has posted instructions for converting these crossovers to DC (do a search to find it). Problem is his instructions are for the HO scale crossovers and the internals for the N scale are a little different. I did not have the guts to experiment so what I did was make the crossover section a separate block (I am set up for DC). You do have to "run" your trains - switching from one controller to the other when a engine approaches that block but "it works".

I figured it out!
Remove the back plate and carefully remove the copper spring which routes power from one track to the other.

I also cut the rails in the cross over portion.

Works just fine now!!!! both inner and outer tracks run independant of each other.

All aboard ! my layout is in full swing now !
