Title: DDC vs old style
Post by: maccats on March 03, 2009, 07:57:01 PM
I have gotten out my trains that have been stored for many years and want to add to my layout. Will the new DDC models run on my old layout that uses a power pack to operate or do I need to lay a different type of track?

The track is identical for both dc and DCC.

Most DCC decoders will let you run on dc, if this feature is turned on.  If a locomotive with a decoder will not run on dc, it is most likely that the feature is turned off in the decoder.  If a friend, fellow modeler, or local hobby shop has an appropriate DCC set, they can turn it on for you.
