Title: What is this small bag of black stuff that came with my Steam Engine?
Post by: Robertj668 on June 07, 2009, 10:36:01 PM
Hi

I think I know this may be but I figure  I would ask anyway.  A few months ago I bought a Spectrum HO 4-8-4 Class J passenger loco and then three ago I bought a Spectrum K4 4-6-2 steam engine and they both have this small black bag of coal like stuff?  What is it used for?

So what is it?

Its supposed to represent cinders, and can be glued to the running boards, or tender deck, or wherever seems visually pleasing to you.

I'm glad to know that.  I'm going to get a K-4 soon and I'd probably have taken the little bag for desiccant and tossed it.  Now I can take it for fake cinders and toss it.  Thanks.

You can also apply it to your face and hands for added realism.  :D

Cool thanks

I love the K4.  But I am having a hard time with Tsunami DCC sound decoder and speaker to fit.  So I am retro fitting the inside to make it all fit.  Worth the work though!

My son would love that!

Actually the real purpose of the small bag of black stuff is to let you check for dandruff.   When you scratch your head trying to figure out what it's for, you will discover if you have dandruff or not. ;D
