Can anyone tell me please, what the minimum radius curve is for an HO Scale, J Class 484 Hudson (N&W), DCC with sound
I don't have the catalog in front of me, but IIRC it says 22" radius for that model.
This is just a guess on my part, but any 4-8-4, unless made by IHC, will probably do ok on 22 in radius, but to be safe, go with 24 in radius or greater. IHC makes engines with an extreme amount of side to side play allowing them do tight radii.
It all depends on how good your track work is.
It will always look better on 22 or 24 radius but if you have very good track work it will have on problem on 18in.
I have 5 4 8 4's Bachmann and BLI and they all work at all speeds.

It should operate fine on 18", but 22"and 24" make it look much nicer and likely help the performance. Ryan's Daylight Northern flies around 18" radius fine, just watch out for the cab if your looking close at the model, it might knock you silly!
