Title: Spectrum Doodlebugs
Post by: micsweeney on July 21, 2009, 11:40:19 PM
Hello,

I have Item HO Bachmann Spectrum #81405, EMC Gas Electric Doodlebug. I have been trying to get it apart to install DCC in it. Can anyone give me the secret as to how to get into it. I am not sure how it comes apart!! Thank you and hope someone out there can help.  Mick

I remember having to spread the sides of the car body fairly wide to get it over two tabs in the side... Hang on, lemme go grab it... yep, I just spread the sides at about the middle and shook it gently.  The chassis dropped right out of the car body.  There are four lock tabs on the chassis that hook into slots in the body.

There was a site to show how to do it and they used toothpicks to keepit spread apart as you go done the body. Not flat but round toothpicks

Not quite that simple, you have to remove the entire car body, and it can be very tight on the side tabs the first couple of times.  Once the car body is off, the plug is indeed right there on top.
