Title: EZ Command
Post by: adari on September 05, 2009, 11:40:39 AM
Is bachmann planning a updated version of EZ command. I now use Digitrax but I still have my EZ. My friend wants my ez command and he wants to know if there is a update coming up. I dont personally want to know but my friend does.

Adam, I doubt it.  I have no inside information so this is pure speculation, subject to correction by Mr. B.  The way I see it, E-Z Command already does what a basic system should do, and it does it well.  E-Z Command
- is very easy to learn and use, you might even say it is technophobe friendly.
- allows you to independently run multiple trains (the basic purpose of DCC.)
- allows you to run some trains while a buddy runs some others.
- has a booster to let you run more trains at once or to run larger trains.
- allows you to control special effects (sound) if your trains have it.
- is low cost because it is simple.

What could you add and still keep it a simple, introductory set?  Anything I can think of would make it harder to learn to use and/or increase the price.  Either of these would kick it out of its market niche and force it to compete with a lot of other introductory sets.  And a more complicated E-Z Command would probably send the technophobes screaming into the woods.

Adam,
I have used other systems at the club.  I use the EZ-Command at home.  I have a 1/2 basement size layout and I love the ease of this unit.  I also have visitors, and they can use learn the system, and use it in just a couple minutes.
