Title: How do I Remove Truck Axle?
Post by: EIS on September 30, 2009, 01:10:06 PM
I have a Williams Southern Berkshire loco.  I have had the engine for several years.  I just noticed that one of the axles on the trailing truck is quite badly bent.  I have no idea what could have bent the axle because the engine is stored on a display shelf whenever it is not running on the layout.  Anyway, I would like to remove the axle and try and straighten it.  How can I remove the axle?

Thank You...
Earl

Hi Earl,

There is no way to remove the axles from the trailing trucks.
Sorry :(

You will either need to straighten it while still on the truck or replace the truck.

3rail,

Thank you for your reply.  I was able to straighten the axle sufficiently to eliminate any noticeable wobble.

Is the side plate that retains the axle glued in place?  If not, how is it secured?

Thank You...
Earl

EIS,

They are staked in place by a machine.
