Title: Changing couplers on G scale
Post by: david_wi on October 16, 2009, 10:24:47 AM
Hi Guys

I have a Bachmann train set G scale.(90059)
The loco and cars have simple couplers(not knuckle ones).
I will like to change to G scale,Knuckle Couplers.
What parts will I have to buy, to convert the couplers?

Thanks,

David

David,
The White Pass set usually comes with knuckle couplers in addition to the hook and loop versions.

Knuckle couplers are also available from Bachmann.  Item #92420 contains six couplers in a pack.

David,

I am in the process of replacing the knuckle couplers on several new, unopened train sets with the European style and would gladly part with the knuckle couplers that come with Bachmann sets. E-mail me if interested. Broncomaniac@hotmail.com

David,

Actually, if you send me your hook and loop couplers I will send you my knuckle couplers. How about that?

for truck mounted couplers, either #831 or the new #903 will do.  For the front of the loco--either the set for the LGB Mogul will do, or the new #904.  For body-mounted couplers, either #830, or the 900 with the 830 box.  Check with Kadee for that one.

The new #900-series really look nice--the knuckle spring is hidden.  The 900 will drop in on the Spectrum freight cars.  gj  (Call Sam at Kadee--see their site--for questions.,)
