Title: Bachmann Edward
Post by: metal4life on April 13, 2007, 05:26:03 PM
Dear Bach-Man,
Do you think Edward could have his original season 1 face, like Toby?
That'd be awesome if he does.  ???

Maybe around 40 dollars I am guessing.

Post by: Chazoroni on April 17, 2007, 11:37:45 PM
I am guessing Edward would most likely be a few dollars off because of the amount of driving wheels he has.

Post by: Chazoroni on April 17, 2007, 11:52:08 PM
Yeah also from what I am guessing, I don't think Edward will be out in the Spring and same with Mavis.  Mavis will be easier to be made because her prototype has already been made in the UK, while Edward's hasn't.  One reason I think personally why Bachmann is making Edward is because of demands from lots of people besides members, so making the model in general will be very hard, but once it is made it will be worth it. ;)

Yeah, he's been priced from $40-$45.
I just can't wait 'till he's released  :P

well James retailed at $35 when he was released, so Edward would be about the same.

I think Edward won't be that hard just put 1 less drive wheel on the James model and one more bogie in front then do a little body editing adn paint and your done. Wait, don't forget the face.

Dear Bachman

Sorry to be a bother, but i was wondering if you have heard anyting about the new Edward and Mavis models that you have listed on the site.
Reason i ask is because most of the model rail websites say that they will be released by the years end, so i thought i would ask if you might know anything on that.

cheers

Gordon

Well, I bought the Walther's reference catalouge and it says this:
Edward: $64
Mavis:  $43
All NEW Wagons: $17

Usually, Bachmann takes the engine's happiest and uses it.

I am getting my lawn mowing business going strong right now.  I took and was out mowing my neighbors lawn over the weekend and it was so miserable with all the snow and wet grass clogging up the mower.  In the end though I got $20.00 out of it so I think if I keep doing well I will have enough to get Edward and Mavis when they come out.  First though I need to get my Emily paid for that’s been sitting up at my L.H.C. for 2 months.

Well with that attitude why should anyone answer you? It takes time to make molds and mass produce models. Bachmann doesn't use any commercial parts. You can easily kitbash a model from another model, but I doubt you built a model from the ground up in a week. Not to mention the designers at bachmann have a lot of other projects. IMO, you need to work on your people skills.

Railwaypark if you're going to speak like that then you might as well leave the forums or apologize for the way you are acting, mind you like a 3 year old. HAVE PATIENCE!! If you don't spend all your time getting worked up like this then Edward WILL take forever to get here. If you're going to chat on these forums with us you had better watch your mouth. Corrie, you are excused :P.

If you think about it, March isn't far away at all. Only about 2-3 more weeks. Heh, maybe for Valentines Day the Bach-Man could give us a sneek peek of Edward. Lol, that'd be really awesome. Don't you guys think?

Now I don't think we will expect much in March...:(  As much as I would like to see Edward and Mavis in March maybe it might not happen until November...

The new rolling stock probably won't come until November at the earliest.

I just hope Salty doesn't come out until November 2009. :(

Yeah, it should actually be pretty easy to make Salty, just some modifications to Thomas' chassis, new body, eye gears, face, and thats it!  It shouldn't take until November 2009 just to make Salty! :( :(

Hi, everybody.  It's been a while since I've been here.  I had to make a new profile.  So, is Edward going to look the same as when I watched the show 17 years ago?  Will he have the old face or the new, not as friendly face?  And why are they waiting till now to make Edward?  He was the very first engine to come out of the Rev. W. Awdry's head.  He was the first engine to be thought up for the Reverend's sick son.  Have they released pics of Edward yet?

First off welcome to the forum, or in this case welcome back ;)

The question of why they didn't make Edward then and are working on him now I can't answer for you.  It could be because of the popularity of the engines, but I am not 100% sure.

Also there are no pictures of Edward yet, therefore we don't know how the face will turn out.  I would like to see the original Season 1 Edward face on the model too. ;)

I remember watching Thomas when I was little and my absolute favorite engine was Edward.  There was just something about him that was so wonderful.
Title: Re: Bachmann Edward
Post by: PRRThomas11 on February 23, 2008, 10:25:28 PM
Yeah, Bachmann makes their trains according to their popularity. Bachmann makes their trains for little kids, whom are the main audience of people who watch Thomas.(Not that they would be running them) Spencer, who is a newer engine, was only in three episodes I think and they made him because he looks cool. Edward is barely in the show anymore and since little kids don't know him as well so is not as popular.
Thus, by making the more popular trains for the widest audience, Bachmann make money.

Its elementary my dear Watson.

Ok, Thomas and Percy I can understand but James?  (Sorry to all of James's truest fans out there)  The only episodes he hasn't been totally mean in are the first episode where he meets some very friendly cows up close and personal, and when he helps Edward.  Other than that, he is completely rude, obnoxious, self-centered, and just over all deserving of a derailment.  And I am going to send an email to HIT entertainment and anyone else that produces Thomas The Tank Engine And Friends, and tell them that they need Edward.  He was the first, he was the original.  He was always the one who taught us to be nice, and taught us friendship, and the ability to rely on someone, and he was almost always happy, and never mean.  Now you can't see one episode where he isn't rude, or mean.  They are going to kill off Edward and he is the reason Thomas the Tank Engine exists.
Title: Re: Bachmann Edward
Post by: PRRThomas11 on February 23, 2008, 10:50:26 PM
The makers of Thomas and Freinds try to make Thomas, Percy, and James the three most popular characters. (Emily too, sometimes.) I think it has to do with their contrasting personalities and characteristics.

Except for the part with them being trains with faces of course.
Title: Re: Bachmann Edward
Post by: Guilford Guy on February 23, 2008, 11:03:54 PM
They are trying to hold onto viewers. HIT has better things to do than to care about who came first, and who came second. If that were true companies would still be making models of steam locomotives. They wouldn't have even got to EMD's 1930's releases... Its a popularity contest. If they are going to kill off a character then so be it. It doesn't matter what the emotions of a model is. Its only a model. And with all those derailments they are in dire need of some track repair. They should get some new crews too, who are more experienced, and locomotives without a mind of their own... "Mr Hat" is the worst railway manager known to man...

I wonder how the model is coming along, still cannot wait to see what the test shots look like when they come around.

Well Edward2P, looks like we've got something in common :P. As far as we know, I think the model comes out somewhere between March-November.
At least, I hope he does. If they give Edward his original season 1 face, I'd just die.

They are going to kill off Edward and he is the reason Thomas the Tank Engine exists.

........................

Anyways, I agree about Edward needing to come out soon! But James is one of my favorites, along with Edward, don't diss him like that. :P ;)

,Dear bachmann,

Here are the steps to build edward:
1.Build another james without his shape & third wheel arch.
2.Add two boogie wheels & two drive wheels.
3.Alter his body a bit.
4.Paint his body,Tender & wheels blue.
5.Alter his face into edwards series.6 face.
6.Add the number 2 on the tender.

                                                        ,Love railwaypark,
P.S. I'll give you step for mavis tomorow. ;D(http://bachmann%20edward)

Railwaypark, I think it is pretty much decided that most people want Edward's season 1 face.  Don't forget, Edward is shorter in length than James, and his driving wheels are bigger so the wheel archs would have to be bigger, his cab shape is different too.  Edward is basically a shortened class 2P, thats why Hornby just used the 2P to make Edward.  Although, I wish they hadn't been so cheap when making Emily.  They used Lord Of The Isles which is a different class loco.  Emily is a Stirling 8ft Single class.  They have the molds for the Stirling 8ft Single.  Hornby owns Airfix which owns the original kitmaster molds for the Stirling Single model kit.

They already have an idea. They've had blueprints for the pas few months and are now working on the molds. I doubt they will pay any attention to some "half-ass" advice from a 12 year old...

I think we better get back on topic if anything. :P

But anyways RailwayPark, the Bach-man knows what he is doing.  I mean come on, he isn't stupid or anything like that and I am sure he knows what Edward looks like.  It's not like he is going to say he'll make Edward and then make Molly. lol

Ya, he isn't gunna make Edward with like a diesel body, or a boy body or anything like that. Don't worry, its like Chaz said, he be knowing, what he be doing! ;)

I'll just have to settle for James once he arrives. ;) James and Edward are my favorites after all....Although I think I already said that...Oh well.

I agree, nothing ever beats the original characters.  It's another great reason for us to be excited for Edward and Mavis.  Personally I like the idea of Salty coming out because he is one of my favorite S6-beyond engines, in fact one of my favorite diesels.  ;)

I remember when I was little it was always:
Thomas, Thomas, Thomas, THOMAS! I used to watch Thomas every second of every day, I still do when I have the chance, and find new videos on youtube! ;D

I remember one specific thing though: Nothing in my opinion ever beat the originals.

As we said earlier, we aren't sure how the face will turn out mainly because we haven't seen any pictures of Edward yet.  So we shouldn't jump to conclusions at this point.

Toby was amazing, it looked like his S1 model, so chances are that could happen with Edward, but as I said earlier we will find out soon on how Edward's face will turn out! :)

I just had a question.  Since Toby's hooks (The Black Ones) are different from the normal ones on the other engines, are they able to be replaced if they get brocken or damaged? ???

Hi I'm new. Does anybody know why Edward is taking so long? It seems like everytime it gets close to when he is supposed to come out they delay him again. Are they having trouble making him?

Well, I dunno the answer to your other question (and I don't mind that it takes so long, they produce excellent models!), but...

Welcome to the Forums!  ;)

Edward has only been just announced, and he's still in production. Currently Bachmann has their eyes set on November 2008, but it could change at any moment. The reason Edward has been pushed back is because Bachmann take considerable amounts of time and effort when it comes to their models. Would you want a crappy model of Edward by June or a superb model in November?

It's just like Gordon, Henry, and Emily got held back and look at there models. Just  the other day my friend (Thomas lover) came over and he thought they were the real models.  :D  It does not matter how long we have to wait, as long as we just get a decent model. ;) ;)

We do not know but we will have to wait another year to see, or just see what this year brings for us besides Mavis, Salty and our long awaited Edward.  Bachmann did say there might be more, but we will have to wait and see what the year brings us.
