new to trains and this board. Can a kaydee coupler be switched to a knuckle coupler to make a athearn match a bachmann?

kadee couplers ARE knuckle couplers. they were the original knuckle coupler, and all other brands of knuckle couplers should work with them.

Maybe he had Kadee couplers confused with x2f/ horn hook couplers (also known as NMRA couplers to some). And if this is the case then just take the cover off and put a knuckle or Kadee coupler in and your in business.

Thanks. I know very little about trains except that i love'm, however i intend to rectify that shortly.  My time recently has been spent building wooden trains for my grandson. Again, thanks for the info.
