Has anyone heard of any plans for a spectrum DCC/sound version yet?
No, it is likely a long ways off because when they introduce products it still takes them a good deal of time to get the product to the retailers (because they want to ensure that their product is satisfactory and meets their standards before releasing it).

I wish. Unless I totally missed it and I have been watching, as of today, Bachmann has not announced a single sound equipped Diesel.
