Title: where to position terminal/rerailer
Post by: AmoryRR on January 19, 2010, 02:06:56 AM
Where should I position the terminal/re-railer track in relation to my turnouts to keep the trains from stopping and do I need more than one terminal/re-railer track?

Hi AmoryRR,

Click on the below linked thread. If that still does not help, then draw a picture using a program such as MS paint and post it here.

Generally the terminal will need to be anywhere between the bottom of the Y of both your turnouts.

Good Luck

Position the terminal anywhere along the green highlighted line.

Hope that helps.

Good Luck

I am still having a problem with the train losing power when the switch is open to the internal part of the track.  When I turn the switch back the train has power again.

Thanks.

I move my terminal track to the suggested positions and things are better, however the engine stops as it passed through the switch.  I read about attaching power to the "frogs" but I am not sure I understand how to do this.

All previous help is appreciated.

Frogs are a dual-edged sword - they are good for short wheel bases (though a little more speed going through a switch can carry the engine) but you can have the potential to generate shorts via user error.

If you nudge the engine when it is stuck on the switch does it pass through and then continue on by itself or is it totally dead on the other side of the switch? (might have a loose wire, etc. so describing the behaviour can help with narrowing down where the power issue is)

If you pick up the engine and put it on the inner loop, then throw the switch to route power to that inner loop, does the train move?  Headlight come on or no power at all?
