I have a 2 6 0 (Wonderland Express) that will not start once it is stopped. It runs fast it runs slow forward and aft but when I stop it wont go again without a little nudge. My track is clean and all the other locos are fine. The track and locos all DC operation. Please help, where do I look to fix.
My present solution is a 4 foot stick. When the loco refuses to start I just push it a bit to get it going. I am hoping someone out there will come up with a better solution.
Try cleaning the drivers on the engine. Rubbing alcohol on a q-tip. Rub the treads and the back/flange of the wheels.
Also, give the wheels a visual inspection for gunk (fibers, hair, etc). Remove any gunk you find.

John, thank you for your input. The loco looks clean but I will go over the areas you suggested.
The best thing I did for my 2-6-0's was add power pickups to the tenders. I used Kadee flat centering springs which gave eight more pickup wheels on each tender.
