I remember bringing this up with Chaz one time.  Most likely they'll be in the middle.  :-\

Wouldn't it be nice if Bachmann just included them with the twins so you could put them on yourself? :)

I don't think having such small parts that can be removable would be a good idea.

You do have a point.  However, it still would be a good idea I think. :-\

Well Spencer's nameplate stayed on him, I can't really recall any range that let's you add the nameplates to the characters...

Another thing is that after time they would probably slowly start to peal off. :P

I know that. I was just saying that that would make it possible. The nameplates will likely be static and the details tampographed. They will probably be in the current central position, but with luck we'll have them on the smokeboxes.

The middle for sure.

On wooden railway models they were always in the front. I'm willing to bet the front. If they are stationary, that will be fine (it will look better like that too). These are considered toys, so small objects doesn't equal small children friendly.

you can always have nameplates, you just have to buy etched brass ones separate.

And they will never happen, if anyone made them HiT would jump on them like a ton of bricks. And etched brass plates for a toy? Think about it...  ::)

Not from Bachman, from a different company that you buy separate. Would be nice though if it was an option. But that's not going to happen. Health and safety regs. A mixed blessing.

I was talking about other companies, they'd be treading on very uneasy legal ground, and HiT would be more than keen to clamp down on them.

Does HiT have the names "Donald" and "Douglas" trademarked? I don't think so. The trademarks are "Donald the Scottish Twin Engine" and "Douglas the Scottish Twin Engine". But the nameplates would merely say "Donald" and "Douglas", and so it would be HiT on shaky ground. It would be like suing for putting "Steve" or "Bob" on the plates.

Wonder why Disney didn't sue for the "Donald's Duck" episode...  ::)

Perhaps they liked the joke. Plus, it is merely a name reference. It's not like Dilly wore a sailor outfit and talked with a speech impediment.

All this over nameplates that will probably just fine on the engines when they are released? All I have to say is facepalm.
