Title: Parts for On30 geared engines.
Post by: Dusten Barefoot on April 17, 2010, 01:39:42 PM
Please Bachmann, could you possibly think about producing replacement parts for the 0n30 geared engines. I am having the most trouble with my Climax. I love this little engine, but the universal joint broke is broke, and the connecting piece to the wheels is stripped. Could you please consider making replacement parts. Or, could you make the parts out of a diecast steel, or something to begin with?

Rock On!

Duston

Brass gears are usually the best and are cut. Steel gears just might be too noisy and just overall not good. Plastic type of gears can be good providing they are made and used correctly.

On the subject of a H------  okay but fix the gearing if you wish to sell me couple of those logging beasts.

I sold all of my B-mann geared as I don't care to fiddle with something that is still having gearing problems.  I do have lot of On30 B-mann freight cars and they are for the most part trouble free.

When I used to race1/24 & 1/32 slot cars we had brass and steel gears that lasted a long time. WE also used plastic gears only for the sidewinder cars they were very unreliable just like the crown gears and appeared to be made of the same plastic going bad constantly perhaps going bad twice in a race if the mesh was just simply slightly off.
They sold a lot of gears then they were $2.50 ea.
They surely don't handle torque very well. That's my experience with plastic gears.

As I posted yesterday in this thread http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/board/index.php/topic,12864.0.html (http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/board/index.php/topic,12864.0.html) Bachmann is sending out some new gears on trial to a few customers.
So hold on for awhile longer and you may get an answer.
