Title: What sound decoder for a EMD DD40?
Post by: Omaha on April 30, 2010, 04:04:05 PM
I have an HO Bachmann Spectrum DD40AX that runs very well. It is one of the pre DCC ready models. Has anyone installed a sound decoder in a DD40AX?

I understand that the prime movers are the same as what was in a GP40. Is there any way to use a sound decoder for a GP40 and make it sound like 2 prime movers?

One possibility would be two decoders and two speakers. I have no idea of what the running gear is like though or room for speakers.

Below is a link to a Google search with possibilities.

QSI has a DDA40X sound set for their decoders.
