Title: narrow gauge.
Post by: WootWoot11 on May 07, 2010, 04:17:25 PM
well.. i have seen alot of things going around about the narrow gauge engines...... and i would have to say this.. it would be just alot easier to let bachmann keep on making the standard.... and you making your own with a scale down railroad to make the narrow gauge railroad... for the engines.. make your own!Ok, i'll admit... it would be a bit longer to do it, but if bachmann does it it would just be plain stupid to do it.
That is because they wouldn't probably make a seperate track, if they did it would waste alot more supplise for making the tracks. meaning less product could me made. so that is why they shouldn't/won't do it, and why you should make your own!

no offence, but we could already figure that out.

i've tried this before. don't wast your breath. and if they ever did (not saying they would) they would probably be a little bit bigger than n scale running on n scale track though.

Just go out and buy the kits, and then build them yourself. Not much to ask for.

If Bachmann did make them I would want Peter Sam only, maybe ::) because he is my Fav. N. Gauge engine.

Mine's Rheneas. Hey, how about we turn this into a general topic about narrow gauge stuff in the Thomas-verse?

Zelda, perfect idea.

personally, my favorite was duke. I liked drawing the kind of engine he was in my spare time. I wish i could still draw like i used too.  :(

If I'm not mistaken, they're not talking about Bachmann coming out with the narrow gauge engines. I think they're just talking about narrow gauge, not Bachmann coming out with them. It's pretty much a different version of the Everything Thomas Topic, but with narrow gauge.

Then surely this could be discussed in the "Everything Thomas" thread?

Guys, please stop making new threads for the littlest of things :p

Hi
Bachmann could easily manufacture the narrow gauge in 009 the
common English narrow gauge modeling size.
They already make the mechanisams and a usable 9mm gauge track
It would be a case of making the stock and loco bodies mostly.
But the big issuie is I am not sure there is a big enough market for the
narrow gauge Sodor Railways in the same scale as the existing trains.

Most 009 equipment is of very small prototypes. At one time Bachmann was looking into producing 4-6-0s in N scale however this project was halted when they could not find a small enough motor. This problem would likely carry over.

Another fact is most OO9 is bought as a kit, there's very little RTR models available. I doubt making RTR Skarloey engines would be a wise business decision.

RTR OO9 = no-go

I model in the scale. It's not economically viable to mass produce RTR models in it.
