Title: Curve Radius for N Scale SD-45
Post by: Teamanglerx on May 25, 2007, 10:00:41 AM
On my layout I am using 11.25" curves and would like to run a DCC type layout.  The only DCC trains that Bachman offers are the SD-45s and the Dash 8's which say they require a minium of a 19" curve.  Is that a hard fact or will they run on a smaller curve?

I have not converted mine yet, but I do have both.  My tracks are all 11.25" or less (by bending them liberally)...not too many problems.   But you just have to be *very* careful when you put the locos on the track to make sure indeed all wheels are on the track, as they are very deceiving.  It is not that easy because you cannot use a rerailer for locos.

I had a replacement Dash 8-40C (straight DC)  that ran for about 15 minutes on my 9-3/4 radius test oval with no apparent trouble before it quit (light on, no motion) and went back to Bachmann.
