Title: Kitbash Side Door Caboose
Post by: drgw268 on August 29, 2010, 10:42:30 AM
I'm thinking about kitbashing a side door caboose to remove the side door.  Any idea what kind of sheeting I could use to match up with the sides of this car?  Thought about using material from an On30 boxcar, but the earlier Bachmann cars all have thinner boards with less pronounced wood grain.  I wouldn't mind taking the grain off the car, but the width is still a problem.

Before breaking out the scale ruler and tinkering around with Evergreen strips, I thought I'd check and see if anybody has already done this and hopefully found an easier solution.

Evergreen makes an O-scale car siding that seems to match up to most of the Bachmann cars fairly well.  Once you make sides, a roof and ends are a snap -

you could reskin the sides with very thin material and use the same to skin you doors
