Title: making a conversion coupler
Post by: LureMaster on September 14, 2010, 07:59:45 PM
I am a lure designer and prototype model maker.  I have a HO Bachmann Chattanooga set but have modified some cars but can't get ahold of some old passenger cars so I bought some Thomas passenger cars and others on sale that I am working on but the couplers don't match the EZ couplers.  Anyone have any hints on modifying before I start designing on my own and make one to fit?  Cliff

I was in the same boat as you with a question regarding couplers. I one person tell me to use string and a paper clip to keep the couplers together  LOL. But in the end I found out that there really is no conversion for those types of coupler. My only suggetion is to do some serious reseach online and you might find an answer.
Sorry I wan't much help, good luck in your project

Best Regards
John

I have switched several thomas cars with hook and loop to kadee couplers with ease, I used #5's for on30 scale I simply removed the hook and loop then cut off the the mount flush then I  used the  same hole for the kadee coupler, you will likely need to shim the coupler for the correct  height for your scale but it's all very simple. The kadee couplers work fine with the ez couplers
